I wanted to tell you how I felt but got distracted as your hands held mine, fingers tracing and interlocking, chipping away my red nail varnish as you whispered in my ear and your hot breath fogged up the passenger window. I watched as the condensation drip drip dropped and fell down the glass but before I could watch it hit the plastic my eyes re-adjusted to the ceiling as the feeling of your bottom lip skimmed my cheek and I didn’t know where to look and I couldn’t catch my breath as your eyelashes brushed against mine and flitter flitted rapidly back and forth as sprinkles hit the windshield and the sharp exhale escaping my lips was the soundtrack to my panic. I wanted to tell you how I felt but I got distracted.
